Providing advanced patient care
Like any area of health care, dentistry has benefited from new technology. These advances have resulted in better diagnosis, faster, more efficient treatment and significant improvements in patient comfort. At Downtown Langford Family Dental we are committed to offering the latest innovations in dental treatments and technology.
Technologies, we use are:
Intra-Oral Camera can produce accurate images of your teeth and the supporting structures. This allows you to see tooth defects that you would otherwise not know existed in your mouth. It also allows you to better understand the need for the recommended treatment.
Digital X-Rays We understand the concerns our patients have about being exposed to radiation while taking Xays for diagnostic purposes. This is the reason we have invested in Shick sensors that let us use reduced radiation settings and eliminates 90% radiation as compared to conventional Xray films. Digital X-rays do not require harmful toxic chemicals for film development and eliminate the use of plastic film packets. The x-ray image immediately appears on a computer screen to enable both the patient and the dentist to review immediately. The radiation dosage chart helps you compare the amount of radiation used.
Velscope is the leading device for oral cancer screening. This tool is essential for early detection of various cancers as well as other tissue abnormalities. The entire screening process takes less than two minutes, is completely non-invasive, and requires no rinses or dyes.
Dentsply Sirona Primescanner for impressions and models. An intraoral scanner is a handheld device used in dentistry to create a digital impression of a patient’s teeth. A light source from the scanner is projected into the patient’s mouth and thousands of images are captured by imaging sensors and processed by scanning software. An accurate 3D model is created and displayed on a screen. The data produced by intraoral scanners can be transferred digitally to dental labs to create restorations, sleep appliances and implants, replacing the traditional impression that needs longer processing time and resources.
